This morning I thought hard about the biggest laugh my mother and I ever shared. It happened when I was 12. My mother had gone into the hospital for major abdominal surgery, while I stayed with a neighbor. The first day of her being gone I damn near severed my foot in a horrific accident at a school event and ended up having a cast up to my hip. We were at two different hospitals at opposite sides of the city. Ten days later we we're both finally home. I hobbled to the restroom on my new crutches and somehow managed to lose my balance due to my unwieldy cast and fell between the toilet and the tub. I was wedged in pretty damn tight. My mother heard the commotion and hobbled in after me holding her tummy. In her strained effort to dislodge me, she fell on the other side of the toilet and got stuck there next to the sink. We laid on the floor together holding hands and laughing our asses off...
